| George
Gay - Executive Director George is an environmental lawyer who has worked to protect eastern natural resources for over a decade. He received a Bachelors degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management from Virginia Tech in 1981 and a Law degree from Vermont Law School in 1985. From 1990 to 1994, he served as an Assistant Attorney General in the State of Maryland and as counsel to Maryland's Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Commission, Wildlife Service, and Freshwater Fisheries Administration. From 1994 to 1997, he was General Counsel to Vermont's Environmental and Water Resources Boards. He focused on legal issues relating to Act 250, the Agency of Natural Resources, and sustainable communities. From 1999 through 2001, he was Southeast Regional Director of The Wilderness Society. He served as Chair of the Southern Appalachian Forest Coalition, a coalition working to protect natural resources in the Southern Appalachians. He helped steward the launch of SAFC's Great Forest protection campaign, a region wide effort to conserve unprotected National Forest lands in the South. Daley - Campaign Director
Jad Daley
joined the staff of the Northern Forest Alliance in September, 2004. Jad
has worked closely with the Alliance since 2000 in his role as Coordinator
of the Eastern Forest Partnership. In addition, Jad led the Appalachian
Mountain Club's successful effort, in partnership with other interests,
to pass the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act creating a 395,000-acre
protected area in New Jersey, and helped secure significant annual appropriations
for land conservation in the Highlands. Most recently he helped secure
passage of the Highlands Conservation Act (H.R. 1964), a bill to provide
$100 million in conservation funding for the Highlands region. Jad is
a graduate of Brown University and Vermont Law School. He is a former
employee of Forest Watch (in Vermont), and resident of the region for
most of his adult life. |
| Richarda
Ericson - Program Coordinator, Businesses for the Northern Forest Richarda joined the NFA in October of 2003. She has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana, where she was awarded a Doris Duke Conservation Fellowship for conservation leadership. She also holds a Bachelors degree in English from Colgate University. Richarda is experienced in non-profit outreach and has worked with such organizations as the Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides, where she helped develop a regional sustainable agriculture campaign. She has also worked to promote economic vitality through strong local food systems, taught natural history, and served on the board of directors for the Alternative Energy Resources Organization in Montana. Ian Burnes - Maine Project Director Ian has been
with the Alliance since April of 2002. You will often find him on the
road in Maine, as he works with community groups across Maine's North
Woods, or coordinating the complexities of the Northern Forest Alliance's
Maine Caucus. Ian's last job was coordinating an international campaign
focused on but not limited to trade and the environment. He has a Bachelors
degree in Economics from Wesleyan University. Ian Burnes

| Cathy
Johnson - Maine Caucus Chair
Cathy attended Yale and received her Bachelors degree from College of the Atlantic. She is an attorney having received a Law degree from University of Maine School of Law. She worked as a trial lawyer in Damariscotta, Maine before joining the staff of the Natural Resources Council of Maine in 1990. She has worked for the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service and U.S Fish and Wildlife as well as the National Parks Office of Nepal. She is on contract with the Alliance and heading up our Maine Caucus work. |

Rich Innes - Political Consultant Rich served
for eight years as a senior staff member of the Senate Committee on Environment
and Public Works, and was responsible for developing legislative proposals
and advising the late Senator John H. Chafee and others on a wide range
of environmental issues including solid waste, oil pollution, habitat
conservation, coastal protection and clean water. More recently he worked
directly with BFI Chairman and former EPA Administrator Bill Ruckelshaus
on a number of projects designed to create a more effective, efficient
and fair system of environmental protection. Rich directs Conservation
Strategies, LLC, which assists the Northern Forest Alliance in making
a compelling case to Congress and the Administration for strong support
of the conservation goals of the NFA. In addition Conservation Strategies
has represented the National Wildlife Federation, the National Fish and
Wildlife Foundation, the World Wildlife Fund, Environmental Defense, World
Resources Institute, Restore America's Estuaries, the National Estuary
Programs, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Environment
at the University of Wyoming. Formerly Rich served in the Office of Policy
at the Environmental Protection Agency. He earned a Masters of Public
Administration at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University,

Kelly Short - Communications Consultant Kelly is
the Alliance's communications guru. Prior to joining our team in a consulting
capacity, she served as Communications Director for the Appalachian Mountain
Club and as editor of AMC Outdoors. She has worked as night editor, copy
editor and staff writer various newspapers in and/or around the Northern
Forest region. Kelly has a deep understanding of the many challenges that
face the Northern Forest region. She has a Bachelors degree in communication
and philosophy from Boston College. |

| Graham
Cox - New York Caucus Convener
Graham is
the Forest, Wetland and Open Space Program Coordinator for Audubon New
York, the state office of the National Audubon Society. He is also the
current vice-president of the Capital Region Audubon Society chapter,
and served as the vice president for public affairs for the National Audubon
Society from 1991 to 1994. He is a member of the International Society
for Ecological Economics and a charter member of the U.S. Society for
Ecological Economics. Graham received a Ph.D. in Ecological Economics
from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He also holds
a Master of Science in Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
and a Bachelor of Arts from the Department of Geography, University of
Sheffield, England. |
